Tropical Paradise Turned into a Spy’s Playground: ‘Mission of Vengeance’ on the Beautiful Bahamian Out Island called Cat Island
I enjoy visiting the Bahamian out islands, which is why I wrote “Mission of Vengeance,” a thrilling spy novel set against the picturesque backdrop of Cat Island. The story revolves around Corey Pearson, a skilled CIA spymaster, and his team of counterintelligence agents as they hunt down a radical Islamic suicide bomber who plans to blow up a crucial meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The OAS brings together the leaders of dozens of Caribbean nations to address a range of hemispheric issues and opportunities. As the leaders gather for their meeting at the Fountain Bay Resort, Corey and his team receive intelligence that a terrorist group is planning a major attack on the event, putting the lives of hundreds of people at risk.
Corey and his team use advanced facial recognition technology to track down potential suspects, scouring the tourist resorts of Cat Island in search of the bomber. They go undercover as fun-loving tourists wanting a peaceful, off the beaten-track getaway. They each have rental cars waiting for them at the airport and drive to their separate hotels. Once checked in, they visit all the bars, restaurants, and tourist places on Cat Island, observing and recording everybody they encounter who looks suspicious. The suicide bomber may already be there, ready to launch an attack on the OAS meeting which will be at the Fountain Bay Resort.
They embedded the facial recognition software in everyday objects, like purses, cameras, sunglasses, and water bottles. They scanned faces of locals and tourists alike, anyone who looked suspicious. By concealing the technology in innocuous objects, they conducted surveillance without arousing suspicion or alerting potential targets.
As the clock ticks down, the tension builds to a heart-stopping climax as Corey and his team race against time to prevent a catastrophic attack on the OAS meeting. With the lives of so many people hanging in the balance, the stakes have never been higher.
MISSION OF VENGEANCE is a thrilling and action-packed spy novel that combines an intriguing plot with richly drawn characters and stunning scenery. Set against the backdrop of the OAS meeting on Cat Island, this novel will captivate fans of the genre and keep them eagerly turning the pages.
For those planning a vacation, Cat Island is one of the many Bahamian out islands known for pristine beaches, crystal clear waters, and rich cultural heritage. Located in the central Bahamas, Cat Island is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes and seascapes in the world, making it a popular destination.
When it comes to resorts, Cat Island has several options to choose from. One of the most popular is Fernandez Bay Village, which offers oceanfront bungalows, a freshwater pool, and a restaurant serving local cuisine. Another great option is Pigeon Cay Beach Club, which features cozy cottages, a private beach, and a restaurant/bar with a laid-back vibe. Finally, there is Greenwood Beach Resort, which offers comfortable accommodations, a beachfront restaurant, and a variety of water sports activities.
But my favorite resort on Cat is the Fountain Bay Club, which is located on a private beach and features comfy cottages, a restaurant serving local seafood, and a bar with stunning ocean views. That’s why I chose it to feature in my spy thriller novel. A quiet and tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and to write a scene for a suicide bomber attack, creating a stark contrast.
One of the unique features of Cat Island is its rich musical heritage, which is rooted in a style of music known as rake and scrape. This genre of music is characterized by its use of traditional instruments such as the saw, accordion, and goat-skin drum, and it originated in the Bahamas, with Cat Island being one of its main centers. Tourists can experience this music firsthand by attending one of the many local festivals that feature live performances of rake and scrape music.
Speaking of rake and scrape, you must meet Sidney Poitier’s daughter there. Sidney Poitier, the legendary Bahamian American actor, was born and raised on Cat! His daughter, Beverly Poitier-Henderson, still resides there and is involved in preserving and promoting its cultural heritage, including rake and scrape music.
Beverly is a musician and a passionate advocate for rake and scrape music, which has deep roots on Cat Island. She is a member of the band, Coolie Mae, which has been playing rake and scrape music for over 30 years. The band’s name is inspired by Beverly’s grandmother, who was known as Coolie Mae and was also a musician.
Yes, the Fountain Bay Club is showcased in the “Mission of Vengeance” spy thriller. CIA spymaster Corey Pearson covertly meets with a contact at the resort’s secluded beach, which serves as a perfect setting for a secret rendezvous. The secluded beaches and tranquil resorts on Cat Island can inspire an author’s creativity and the late Sidney Poitier and his daughter Beverly Poitier-Henderson only add to the island’s allure and cultural richness.
If you’re looking for a vacation that combines relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration, Cat Island in the Bahamas is the perfect destination. And if you’re a fan of spy novels, don’t forget to check out MISSION OF VENGEANCE for an exciting read set against the stunning backdrop of this beautiful island.
